One God One Religion

Welcome. The poetry presented here comes from the experiences and
knowledge gathered along a road, that is now, for me, forty- three years long. As
curious onlooker, I took an interest in all the scenery that passed by. There seems
however, to be a force or propensity that eventually steers us all on to a particular
path or life purpose. I was no exception and by the time I reached my teens, my
attention would turn to God, nature and the more obvious, pretty girls.
Shyness or destiny in those years seemed to have kept the latter at bay while I
pursued my understanding of God and nature. I read everything that came my way
on the topic of the soul and participated in the religion of my geography-
Christianity. This path however, could not bring me to the God I remembered
when I was very young, nor did it bring answers to all the suffering in our world.
It would only mystify a loving power that I once knew as real before I reached the
age of five.
I continued to read books and learned to practice meditation in hopes of
finding the God within. This helped to some extent, but it was not until I was
thirty-six that I met a living master who would reconnect me to my childhood
companion. The master opened my wisdom eye, allowing answers to flow in as a
lifetime of stored questions began to dissolve. I practiced the prescribed
meditation on the inner light and sound and started to understand the God Jesus
spoke of as being within all of us.
From this connection, I learned that there is only one God and this same God
is found in all the world's religions. It is our different languages, cultures and
above all, ignorance that has created prejudice, and even war between our
religions. We're fighting over the same God!
I myself have fought many inner battles between letting it be and sharing with
anyone who is interested, what I have learned. I now feel, I should choose the
latter, because it's all good stuff! It comes not from me, but from the God within.
The suffering in our world would end soon if we all turned inward to this great
power. Although called by different names by the different religions, it's still the
same, and it's within all of us. It's our birthright.
The last hundred years has seen great strides in technology, while I wonder if
we, the children of God have been able to keep pace. How is it that the sons and
daughters of the highest possible heritage could be lacking in anything? Have we
forgotten where we came from?
2500 years ago, the Buddha offered us this wisdom:
"From forgetfulness comes ignorance and from ignorance comes sin and from
sin, suffering".
Actually, our only sin comes from the forgetfulness of our true self. By
remembering our birthright again, we can only become more Godlike, more Jesus
like, more Buddha like, etc. We may then take a closer look at the words of Jesus:
'Whatever I can do, you can do also and even better!'
For some my words may uplift, and to others offend, but if you try to look a
little closer at your own religion, you'll see that I speak nothing new.
